Frequently Asked
Questions
Question: The
only answering service in the area is awful.
Should
my business plan be to offer better service for a lower price?
Answer: The local service may be awful because they
have no competition to keep them sharp.
Once you provide that competition, expect them to improve service
and lower their rates. Conversely,
they may only be perceived as offering poor service.
Again, once there is competition, that perception may change.
It is never a good idea to compete on price.
There will always be someone else who will offer the same service
for less. Remember that the
client who chooses your service based on price, will leave your service
just as quickly for the same reason. The
best strategy is to focus on providing high quality service.
This can be done either at a competitive price or a premium price.
(For many people, the more they pay for something, the better they
believe it to be.)
